Getting To Better Know Our Awesome Assistant, Monica

SOMETIMES, WE’RE  GUILTY OF ASSUMING TOO MUCH, RIGHT? We recently realized that we’ve probably wrongly assumed that ALL of you—our valued patients—know Monica as well as we do! That’s probably not the case.

So, we asked Monica a few questions to help you get to know her a little better. Those questions are found below—along with her candid answers! Enjoy!

Where are you originally from?

“I am originally from Vallejo, California. I moved to Antioch, California in the year 2000 when my husband Tom and I bought our first house.”

What made you decide that you wanted to become a dental assistant?

“My Dad dated a dental assistant when I was growing up. My Dad then recommended that I go into dentistry. My Dad’s friend recommended dental hygiene. My second career course was to be a court reporter because of my typing background.”

When you started as a dental assistant was there something funny that happened? Do you dare tell us that story?

“When I graduated from Dental Assisting School at Dibalo Valley College, I wanted to look more mature. So, I cut my hair really short into a ‘Bob’. Let’s just say, it was a ‘funny’ look for me!”

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?

“My favorite thing to do when I am not at work is to read. I enjoy fiction, especially the Harry Potter series and the Hunger Games series.”

What do you enjoy most about being a dental assistant?

“I enjoy orthodontics most. I worked in general dentistry for 5 years before joining Gorczyca Orthodontics. I felt general dentistry was a little bit ‘slow’. We certainly are not slow at Gorczyca Orthodontics! I really enjoy the happy patient results of orthodontics and it’s great to see the before and after photos. I enjoy this especially because I am Records Coordinator at Gorczyca Orthodontics and I get to take all of the photos.”

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Monica a little better. Here at our practice we feel really fortunate to have her as a member of our awesome team.
