Getting To Better Know Our Awesome Treatment Coordinator, Veronica

HAVE YOU MET VERONICA? We know that even though we see you a lot, we sometimes don’t have time to really chat. So we wanted to spend some time on the blog spotlighting our team.

So, We Asked Veronica A Few Questions

We asked Veronica a few questions to help you get to know her a little better. Those questions are found below—along with her candid answers! Enjoy!

Where are you originally from?

“I am originally from Guadalajara, Mexico. I lived there until I was 5. Then my family and I immigrated to Antioch, California.”

What made you decide that you wanted to become an orthodontic assistant?

“While working at Rite Aid, I decided that the dental profession would be a good way to help people. At Rite Aid, I had a Manager named Angela, who was also attending Dental Assisting School at Diablo Valley College in Concord, CA and doing her internship at the Orthodontic Office of Dr. Ann Marie Gorczyca. My manager suggested that I come into Gorczyca Orthodontics for a complimentary orthodontic evaluation. I did and it changed my life! I completed orthodontic treatment at Gorczyca Orthodontics. Then, decided to attend DVC dental assisting school myself, complete my internship at Gorczyca Orthodontics, and work as an orthodontic assistant! I am now Treatment Coordinator at Gorczyca Orthodontics.”

When you started as a dental assistant was there something funny that happened? Do you dare tell us that story?

“When I did my dental assisting rotation at University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco, I was assigned to a dental student from a foreign country. I absolutely could not understand a single word he was speaking! He was very loud and made a lot of hand gestures. His older patient in his dental chair said nothing. All I could do was suction. If he needed me to move the suction to a new location, he would just move my hands! Even though it was 16 years ago, I still think it is funny!”

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?

“When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, my husband, Jorge, and my four children. We enjoy going to the park, the museums, the beach, church, and spending time with our relatives who also live in Antioch and Oakley, California.”

What do you enjoy most about being a dental assistant?

“What I enjoy most about being a dental assistant is meeting new people. As Treatment Coordinator at Gorczyca Orhtoodntics, I complete every new patient exam with Dr. Gorczyca and get to work things out for the patient who is getting started with orthodontic treatment in our office. I get to know all the families personally and we build a relationship of trust and friendship over the time we spend together. I love looking at and sharing the Before and After photos and showing families what is possible to achieve with ideal orthodontic treatment.”

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Veronica a little better. Here at our practice we feel really fortunate to have her as a member of our awesome team.
